Background of Development

To resolve issues for customers who wish to use a machine with Right Spindle to perform machining of long workpieces such as shafts, but find that the tailstock retraction programming is complicated when the tailstock is attached to the lower turret, DMG MORI developed Tailstock for turret that enables simple and quick programming for tailstock operations.

Operators can create programs for operations of the tailstock center including approaching and retracting to/from a workpiece, and set the tailstock pressure according to the guidance by the conversational programming method, while checking graphics displayed on CELOS, an HMI. Inputting parameters does not require any special skills. The conversational programming enables operators to create programs in a short time.
