Grinding performance of a nylon brush and a wire brush is not good enough to remove burrs that are likely to be generated after milling. As the polishing ability degrades and the shape can deform over time, the management and automation have been difficult.

Automatic deturring on the machine can lead to more effective machining. Here is the “XEBEC Brush Surface” by XEBEC Technology.

The “XEBEC Brush Surface” is a brush suitable for deburring on a machine. It uses ceramic fiber as an abrasive, and boasts three main features.
The first feature is the high grinding ability. The abrasive content of a nylon brush is approximately 20 to 30% on a volume basis while that of the “XEBEC Brush Surface” is some 80%. So the product delivers higher grinding performance than that of a nylon brush to completely remove burrs.
The second feature is the consistent cutting performance. As the “XEBEC Brush Surface” has a high abrasive ceramic fiber content, cutters are projected all the way, ensuring stable deburring performance to the end.
The third feature is that it does not deform. A nylon brush deforms over time, but ceramic fiber maintains a straight form to the end. So the “XEBEC” brush can be used under the control of an NC machine tool. For example, it can be mounted on a tool magazine of a machining center, and do deburring on the machine after cutting.

Reduce deburring cost to one third

An automotive manufacturer in Japan has a challenging issue that they have too many processes for manual deburring. Then they employed the “XEBEC Brush Surface” and reduced the number of processes by automated on-machine deburring. As a result, their deburring cost was cut down to one third the original cost.

Customers who employ automatic deburring have been increasing recently, but we hear many of them fail to completely remove burrs and do the work manually again. With the “XEBEC Brush Surface” with a high grinding ability and stable deburring performance, it is also possible to complete surface finishing on an NC machine tool as well as deburring. This can reduce the number of processes for manual deburring and finishing processes including polishing and eliminating scratches.
