Responding to customer needs of reducing production loss and measuring errors under actual cutting conditions
There are various factors leading to measuring errors when on-machine measurement is done by a general touch probe, such as adhesion of highly viscous coolant and sagging stylus on a horizontal machining center. In mass-production, it is difficult to ensure time for on-machine measurement, and general CNC measuring programs are limited to measurement in the X-/Y-/Z-direction. It especially takes time to make measurements in the direction perpendicular to surfaces.

The BLUM touch probe “TC60” boasts a high-speed measurement feed of F3000 to shorten cycle time of each process, from ATC operation to positioning and measurement, when a touch probe is used. The product contributes to higher productivity by shortening the time for automatic centering before machining and the time for automatically measuring workpiece shapes after machining. The reduced time can be used to slow down the cutting speed of tools to reduce burden on tools, which as a result expands tool life.
Internal non-contact signal method ensures stable measurement for a long time under actual cutting conditions
No wear occurs at the signal transmission area thanks to the internal non-contact, optical signal transmission method, which allows for stable measurement for a long time. As it is set to high contact pressure, the touch probe achieves superb touch characteristics when coming in contact with a workpiece adhered with high-viscosity coolant, and controls sagging of a stylus on horizontal machining centers. The product ensures stable measurement under the actual cutting conditions. (the low contact pressure type is also available.)
“TC64-10” to measure workpieces in every direction
“TC64-10” capable of measuring in the +Z direction also measures the thickness and side holes of workpieces. With the patented technology “shark360 technology” (face gear inside the probe), measurement is possible even when force is imposed in the rotating direction of the L-shape stylus.
“FormControl”easily enables on-machine 3D measurement
Operations of conventional measuring systems are difficult up to actual measurement, which has been a great burden for operators. The “FormControl, software which can be used with the touch probe, is a support tool that can easily import measuring data and display programming and graphs of measurement results. It makes the same movement as that of a CMM on a machine and enables operators to measure workpieces in the direction perpendicular to surfaces, which has long been considered difficult.
