Operators pay close attention to tool balance. When the cutting condition is not clearly decided, quality of finished workpieces cannot be stable even if cutting is done with the same tool on the same machine under the same condition. Even if tools are kept in balance during low-speed machining, when the feeding or rotation speed is increased, it causes tools to become off balance. So the speed needs to be lowered. The TOOL DYNAMIC accurately measures tooling balance to ensure stable machine operation. The “TOOL DYNAMIC” makes it possible to clarify that currently used tools are adequately balanced in the cutting condition. The product also enables operators to check difficult tool balancing, such as how much weight has to be added or removed to or from where in order to ensure balancing of tools. Optimal balancing can stabilize machining quality such as surface roughness as well as maximizing performance of machine tools, spindles and tools.
Extension of spindle/tool life and reduction in trouble-caused idle time
One of the features of the TOOL DYNAMIC is superior operability. As operators only need to set a tool and enter necessary information according to the screen guidance in an interactive style, even beginners can easily operate the machine.
Well-balanced tooling enables stable machining, which leads to a longer life of machine tools, tools and spindles, and reduction in idle time by trouble prevention. A customer who used to do special boring at a rotation speed of 2,000 min-1 employed the TOOL DYNAMIC, and achieved a high-speed machining of 6,000 min-1. Because of drastically improved productivity, they could pay off the cost in six months.
Another story on a customer who handles wood workpieces is that when they re-grinded a tool, the tooling got significantly off balance, and strong vibration during high-speed rotation activated a safety device, leading to machine stoppage.
