Werkzeugbau Erz is a tool and mould maker with particular expertise in injection moulding technology. The machining experts achieve maximum quality and precision with DMG MORI HSC technology.
The latest acquisition is the highly dynamic HSC 70 linear precision centre. Its extensive equipment is specially tailored to the requirements in tool and mould making. Dry machining is one example. “An extraction system is installed for the production of graphite electrodes; we use air cooling for hard machining of inserts”, explains David Erz. One highlight of the new HSC machining centre for David Erz is the significantly increased spindle speed: “40,000 rpm gives us the ability to produce the highest quality finishes with the smallest possible milling tool diameters.” Among other workpieces, optics for fibre optical systems for the automotive industry were finished by Werkzeugbau Erz using a milling cutter of just 0.3 mm. Machining accuracy has always been a major topic at Werkzeugbau Erz. In the case of the HSC 70 linear, DMG MORI has once again improved precision with the help of a carefully designed cooling system and a thermally stable arrangement. New HSC spindles with shaft, flange and sleeve cooling ensure thermally stable process conditions and up to 70 percent lower axial tool expansion. David Erz draws a positive conclusion: “Technologies like these help us to continuously optimise our manufacturing processes”.
The spindle of the HSC 70 linear runs at 40,000 rpm, allowing machining with small cutter diameters and the highest possible finish quality.
