1. Keyway machining unified on a single machine

By installing the driven broaching toolholder on a standard turret turning, it is possible to perform the machining of keyways and gears, reducing setup times that were previously required for two machines: a turning and a broaching machine.

2. Suitable for machining external and internal gears

Thanks to the product's high rigidity, both internal and external gears can be machined with great precision simply by rotating the tool of 180° and reversing the rotation’s direction. The optional Y-axis micro-adjustment system allows to recover eventual misalignment, even on machines not equipped with Y-axis.

3. Ability to extend the tool’s life

With this broaching toolholder, after the tool has completed its machining stroke (after been in contact with and machining the workpiece), during the backward stroke it lifts automatically and moves away from the contact, which also helps to extend the tool life.

4. Ability to machine keyways with a maximum width of 10 mm

The driven broaching toolholder can be used with commercially available inserts cutting tools. Moreover, M.T. S.r.l. can also manufacture special cutting tools for machining keyways, optimizing the machining conditions and reducing the machining times.
