DMG MORI certified as “net-zero committed” according to SBT

As of June 2024, DMG MORI CO., LTD. and its group company DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT (hereinafter jointly referred to as "DMG MORI") have been acknowledged by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) ^*1 as being committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

In November 2021, DMG MORI obtained the SBT certification for our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets through 2030 with a 46.2% emission reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 as well as 13.5% in Scope 3 based on 2019 levels. Now, being certified as “net-zero committed”, we will further increase both our short-term reduction target for Scope 3 emissions to 27.5% by 2030 and our long-term reduction target for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 to 90% by 2050. The remaining 10%-reduction will be covered by removing carbon from the atmosphere, thus allowing us to fulfill our net-zero commitment.

At DMG MORI, we are committed to realizing a sustainable society in which people and nature can coexist in harmony and resources are recycled. The entire DMG MORI Group aims to expand the use of renewable energy sources, including the introduction of solar power generation systems and purchase of CO₂-free electricity, while strengthening our efforts toward a circular economy to make effective use of resources at each stage of the product life cycle of machine tools. In addition, we are promoting Machining Transformation (MX) to improve our customers' productivity and save management resources, thus reducing CO₂ emissions in the process. It is our firm belief that evolving our machine tool business will contribute to the global challenge of climate change, and as such, we will remain strongly committed toward the realization of a sustainable society.
