Challenging unattainable assignments leads to constant technological innovation
KARUMO FOUNDRY Co.,Ltd. was founded as a manufacturer of copper-alloy casting parts in 1944. The company has always been hungry for technological innovations; it started aluminum casting in the 1970s and was quick to introduce high-mix small-lot production. Although you see a series of latest 5-axis machines in the factory today, the company had never bought machine tools until 2004, at which point they decided to expand the business scope beyond casting. “My predecessor used to say that challenging difficult assignments would brush up our technological expertise. Under the motto, we accepted orders that had been rejected by other makers,” explains Mr. Naoya Takahashi, President of the company.
