Entry guideline

1. Eligible applicants

[For applications from within Japan]
In principle, individuals or organizations including companies, schools and research institutions who engage in machining operation and use subtractive machine tools or advanced processing machines.

[For applications from overseas]
In principle, individuals or organizations including companies, schools and research institutions who engage in machining operation and use subtractive machine tools or advanced processing machines.
The applicant must be a user of our Technical Center (hereinafter referred to as "TC") and must be from one of the following countries.

  • * Target TC...... Australia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
  • * Eligible countries...... Australia, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
2. Entry conditions
  1. (1) Entries must have undergone machining by subtractive machine tools or advanced processing machines (additive manufacturing, laser machining, ultrasonic machining) and symbolize machining technology.
    Any machine tool brand is acceptable.
  2. (2) For entries that need permission from your clients (ordering parties), please be sure to obtain their permission before sending the entry form.
  3. (3) The entry shall not breach any third-party rights, including patent right, utility right, design right and copyright. If you are sending an entry that includes a copyrighted product of a third party (such as characters), send the entry after receiving permission from the copyright holder.
  4. (4) There is no limit to the number of entries. A company or organization can make as many entries as they like. However, make sure to fill in a set of forms for each entry.
  5. (5) Your works are classified into five categories.
    1. 1) Production Parts Machining・・・
      Industrial applications from the aircraft, space, medical, die & mold, semiconductor, EV, and new energy* sector
      * Components used for wind, solar, geothermal, hydro and biomass power generation
    2. 2) Prototype & Test Cut Machining・・・
      Non industry-specific sample parts with unique machining features
    3. 3) Artistic Form Machining・・・
      Workpieces with unique modeling features
    4. 4) Advanced Machining・・・
      Workpieces with unique technical features (additive manufacturing, laser machining, ultrasonic machining)
    5. 5) Academic Research・・・
      Works by students of machining operation (individuals or groups) at high schools, technical colleges, universities or vocational training schools
    * Your entry category may be changed by the contest organizer or the jury.
3. Notes
  • All rights to intellectual property, including copyrights, of the submitted entries shall belong to the entrant.
  • The award may be cancelled if prize winners are found to have breached entry conditions (2) and (3).
  • The organizer shall not be liable for any conflict with any third party about the entry. Such conflicts shall be resolved at the expense and responsibility of the applicant.
  • The organizer may use the submitted entries, their photographs and videos in newspapers, magazines, websites, SNS, other electronic media, collections of works, exhibitions, showroom facilities, etc. without any compensation and without requiring the entrant's permission for the purpose of promoting the Competition and the business activities of the organizer.
  • When using the submitted entries or their photographs or videos in publicity activities, etc., the images may be cropped, color-corrected, or otherwise processed as necessary.
  • Please note that we may not be able to meet your requests regarding the method of photography and exhibition.
  • Entries and any accompanying documents or materials etc. will not be returned. After the awards ceremony, the entries will be displayed at the showrooms and exhibition halls of the organizer's offices.
  • The photographs and videos of the award ceremony, reception, and other events of this contest may be used for publicity purposes.
    Please refer to the "Handling of Personal Information" below regarding the personal information of entrants included in the photos and videos.
  • The entry guideline may be partially subject to change without notice.
4. Conditions for sending entries
  • Any entry sent after the closing date will be ineligible for judging.
  • If you are sending the entry by courier or postal service, make sure to wrap it thoroughly to prevent damage or loss.
    The contest organizer shall not be liable for any damage or loss of the entry during transport by courier or postal services.
  • For delicate or fragile works, please prepare a special container for display or transportation to prevent damage or loss.
  • For works prone to rust, please apply rust-proof oil before submission.
  • The organizer will take all due care in handling the submitted works after receipt, but will not be liable for any natural disasters, unforeseen accidents, damage, loss, or any other damages of any kind.
5. How to send the entry

▶Prior Data Submission

Before submitting your work, send us the following three items as data.

(1) Submit entry form

(2) Copies of invoices and packing lists

(3) Photographs showing the entire work

  • * For (1), submit the entry form below. For (2)(3), submit the documents to exhibition.gp@dmgmori.co.jp.
  • * For (1), after submitting the form, select "Save Response." Print the saved response screen and enclose it when sending your entry work.

▶About shipping

  • Enclose the response screen of the entry form as printed above and send along with your entry to the address below. <One form per entry required>
  • Be careful when packing your work, as it cannot be returned if it is damaged upon arrival.
  • Be sure to check the following items to reduce transportation risks.
    1. (1) Send by DDP
    2. (2) Include the following information on the invoice and packing list.
      • -Parts name・・・
        Write "Contest Work" and the name of the material.
        Example: "Contest Work (Material: Resin)"
      • -Price・・・
        Use "JPY" as the currency. You may set a price for the piece itself, but make sure to include the cost of materials.
      • -Shipping Method・・・
        Specify "DDP".
      • -Payment Terms・・・
        Specify "No Payment".
      • -Shipping Dimensions・・・
        Width x Depth x Height mm
        Example: W100 x D70 x H80 mm
      • -Weight・・・
        Total weight including packing materials Example: 4 kg

Handling of Personal Information

DMG MORI CO., LTD. will handle the personal information of entrants to the Cutting Dream Contest (hereinafter referred to as the "the Contest") in accordance with our Privacy Policy (https://www.dmgmori.co.jp/en/privacy/).
The specific ways in which personal information will be used include: for publication in newspapers, magazines, websites, SNS, and other electronic media; in collections of works; in advertisements and panels for use in exhibitions and showroom facilities; as part of information related to the evaluation results by the jury, for award ceremonies, and as reference for the next competition.
