Reducing CO2 emissions throughout the supply chain

The Company has reduced CO2 emissions in 2021 in its supply chain from raw material production to product shipment (Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 upstream) through self-help efforts.
The Company is also working to reduce CO2 emissions throughout our supply chain by setting targets certified by the Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative in 2021. The goal of the SBT Initiative is to limit the increase in global temperature to less than 2°C above pre-industrial levels, as adopted in the Paris Agreement, and strive to limit the increase to within 1.5°C. The Company aims to reduce the total amount of CO2 emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 46.2% and in Scope 3 by 13.5%, respectively from the base year level of 2019 by 2030.

DMG MORI’s Initiatives

DMG MORI is working towards a carbon-free and zero-waste society in attempt to realize a sustainable future. Since 2001 when were certified for ISO14001 (Environmental Management System), we have worked on reducing CO2 emissions in every aspect of our business operations, including environmental conservation at our factories; use of photovoltaic power systems, advanced heating, ventilation and cooling systems; and replacement of existing lighting with low-power consumption and long-life LED lighting. As one of our environmental initiatives in Japan, we began purchasing CO2-free electricity at Tokyo Global Headquarters in April 2020, and it is being rolled out to Iga Campus, the largest production site of the company, and Nagoya office.
