Health management

We at DMG MORI believe that the mental and physical health of employees is essential for the stable operation and continuous growth of our company. We expressed this philosophy in our "Health and Productivity Management Declaration" of January 2021. DMG MORI will continuously support its employees’ health management and improvement, and encourage them to stay motivated and energized by “playing hard, studying continuously, and working together”.

DMG MORI places importance on the health management of its employees and will promote efforts towards the realization of “Health and Productivity“*.

DMG MORI states the following in its Mission Statement: “Play hard and be dynamic to enrich our private lives, study continuously and be open to advance professional career, and work together and be innovative to bring innovation to workplace.” DMG MORI believes that the employees’ vitality is connected to a healthy mind and body. This vitality is essential to the sustainable growth of our company. DMG MORI pledges to support the health improvement activities of its employees and to implement health improvement strategies to foster a corporate culture in which each employee’s health can reach its fullest potential.

Priority measures

Initiatives for health promotion for each employee

Our medical staff understand the health condition of each employee and continue providing support for the individuals.
- Urge employees to take re-examination according to the result of medical check
- Give instruction on lifestyle habits (meals, exercise, smoking, etc.) to individuals

Creation of healthy workplace

We maintain and improve working conditions and workplace environment for employees so that they can stay healthy in body and mind.
- Manage working hours, implement intervals between work shifts, and monitor the paid leave use rate to encourage them to use up all paid leave
- Provide food education support by use of the company cafeterias
- Maintain exercise equipment and hold sports events

Approaches to improving health literacy

We provide the opportunity for employees to get better understanding of health and lifestyle habits
- Encourage to take e-learning courses
- Offer seminars and lectures by professionals (corporate physician, external lecturers)

Organizational structure

We organize the Health and Productivity Management Promotion Committee with the Director in charge of Administration as Chairman and the corporate physician as Vice Chairman. In close collaboration with the medical staff, Health Insurance Association, Human Resource/General Affairs Departments, we discuss and implement the health management promotion policy and measures to maintain and enhance wellbeing of each employee and to create a healthy workplace where they can work healthily.

Policies to improve the individual health of workers

All workers are required to have thorough physical examinations

Workers requiring secondary physical examinations are encouraged to do so.

The company pays for the following tests, in addition to legally required medical examination tests.

・Gastroendoscopy, large intestine endoscopy: 30 years old and above (once every two years)
・Chest CT: 35 years old and above (once every five years)
・Abdomen CT: 40 years old and above (once every five years)
・Dental examination (including dental scaling): All employees

Specific health guidance

・Physical therapists are invited as teachers to hold exercise classes and provide exercise advice.
・Occupational health staff members provide individualized advice on topics such as exercise, diet, and quitting smoking.

PCR testers

We have registered as a Temporary Health Inspection Station for COVID-19 in Mie Prefecture, have opened a PCR Laboratory in DMG MORI IGA Campus, and have installed PCR testers.

Making workplaces healthier

Work hour management

We have established a system that limits time at workplaces to 10 hours a day, along with an interval system that ensures 12 hours between leaving the workplace in the evening and arriving for the work the following, in order to prevent employees from working long hours.

Meals with a focus on health

We have renovated our company cafeterias and insist on providing employees with hand-prepared meals made from fresh ingredients and balanced menus with a focus on heath.

Initiatives to improve health literacy

Health-related e-learning

We continue to conduct e-learning with the goal of improving employee health literacy. Health literacy is the ability to obtain, understand, evaluate, and make use of health information commensurate with your own state of health. Improving health literacy can help to maintain and improve your state of health and quality of life (QOL).

Lectures from a staff occupational health physician

A staff occupational health physician provides interviews and lectures on topics such as lifestyle diseases, mental health, and oral hygiene.

DMG MORI ranked first in a survey of companies with the highest ratio of paid leave taken by employees (based on 2019 FY standard)

We closely manage the number of days of paid leave that employees take as well as their total working hours, in order to help ensure that employees remain productive and efficient.
