The 48th WorldSkills Competition:
Qualification Tournament for CNC Turning & Milling
successfully held at Iga Campus

DMG MORI CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as “DMG MORI”) hosted Japan’s national qualification tournament for CNC Turning and CNC Milling of the 48th WorldSkills Competition at Iga Campus from September 30 to October 2. The WorldSkills Competition promotes vocational training, international exchange and goodwill among young professionals every two years. Starting with the 39th WorldSkills in Shizuoka, Japan, in 2007, DMG MORI has been supporting the event with machine tools to foster the development of young talents and manufacturing skills.

This year’s qualification tournament was held to select the Japanese delegation for the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. This time, seven candidates gathered from across Japan to show their abilities on the latest DMG MORI machine tools based on technical drawings within a set time.

The venue at Iga Campus featured two NLX 2500 | 700 2nd Generation turning centers and two NVX 5100 | 40 2nd Generation vertical machining centers. During the three tournament days, the candidates received a tour of the Global Solution Center to experience DMG MORI’s MX (Machining Transformation) strategy, advanced 5-axis machines, and additive manufacturing technologies firsthand.

In parallel, Germany selected their national delegation for the CNC Turning category during EMO 2025 in Hannover, for which DMG MORI again provided machines and technical support.*¹

Looking ahead, the WorldSkills 2028 will be held in Aichi Prefecture, bringing the event back to Japan after 21 years following Tokyo (1970), Osaka (1985), and Shizuoka (2007). DMG MORI will continue to support the WorldSkills Competition and its qualification tournaments to actively foster the next generation of manufacturing talent.
